So What! Wednesday

Life After I Dew

I haven't linked up for So What! Wednesday in a while but I'm back this week! Here's what I'm saying so what to this week. So what if:
-I still get "test" anxiety and I'm 32! I had to do my recertification for CPR. This is only my 3rd recertification in 6 years--it's not like I haven't done this before but I was still seriously nervous before we started. It went fine by the way!
-I couldn't wait until the baby went down for his nap so I could watch last night's episode of Sons of Anarchy. Not exactly rated G so I can't watch it until he sleeps.
-I wish I didn't have to work tomorrow or Friday. I'd rather just stay here with my little man!
-We've started talking about maybe baby #2. I can't get clearance from my doctor until February but it's exciting to think about anyway.
-I got new contacts last week but can't wear them. My eyes are so dry and itchy right now it is impossible to keep them in for more than a few hours.
-I finally read Fifty Shades of Grey--and didn't really care for it. I only read it because the guy from Sons of Anarchy was cast as the lead so I figured I might would see it. Now I have no interest in seeing it. Definitely not my kind of book or movie.
-I still forget when I'm watching things off the DVR that I can fast forward through commercials.

Tuesday Catch up Time

We have been so busy these past few weeks. I have been off work for nearly 3 weeks and have loved it. College football started--I love some football. It is finally getting cooler around here--thank God! We've visited family and a few old friends and just got to hang out as a family. We just got back from a little family vacation to Atlanta. While in Atlanta, we took William on his first zoo trip and his first visit to the Georgia Aquarium. He loved both. Feeding the parrots was by far his favorite thing at the zoo. Initially, he was a little hesitant but after the first bird ate some seed off his stick he was all about it. He got to fee 3 birds before he ran out of see. He also really liked the monkeys and a bird show we got to see. I thought he'd like big animals like elephants and giraffes but he just look at them with no real change in expression on his face.

As for the aquarium, I think he loved everything. I knew he would since he loves the 75 gallon aquarium here. He's always saying he wants to see his "fishies".

It was great because we had some real communication with him while we were there. He would point and say "see that" when he wanted to see a tank and he would sign finished when he was ready to move on. The two pools where you can actually can touch the animals were probably his favorite. He loved touching the anemone and would have stayed there all day if we'd let him.

Naturally, he was amazed by the Beluga whales and stared at them for a long time.

The Georgia Aquarium has a tunnel you can travel through while having fish all around you. He was so quiet when we went through it. He just kept looking around at all the fish. It was pretty special to watch.

He found the sea horses really amazing too. One of the few times I was able to catch him smiling in a photo while we were there.

It was so wonderful to get to see his expressions as he discovered all the different animals and fish. I think I enjoyed watching him more than anything!

While we were in Atlanta, we also visited the World of Coke museum. I love coke as many of you know (even though I'm trying to give it up) but I'd never been. Even when we lived in Atlanta, we had season passes to the aquarium and it's right across the street from it but we never went. It was fine. I liked a lot of the old coke art and memorabilia they had. Also, you get to taste 65 Coke products from around the world. Some of them are terrible! But I discovered I really like the Coke products sold in Africa. Who would have known??

Normally, I don't let William have any junk food/soda; however, I decided he could taste some coke while we were there. What better place to try your first coke than the World of Coke?? Obviously, he did not like it.

It has been great having nearly 3 weeks off. I know that it is going to be really hard to leave my little boy Friday and go back to work :( It makes me wonder why I ever went back to work. At least Bill is off so William will be with him that day!

A better me

I've decided to rededicate myself to better health and fitness. I "lost" all my baby weight--the number on the scale is actually 2 lbs less than the day I found out I was pregnant. However, my body is definitely not in as good a shape as it was before William. I restarted using my fitness pal today. Next week the plan is to begin Zumba at home. I ordered the DVDs and I'm a little scared about it. Basically, I'm afraid if its too hard I will just quit. I'm only writing this post to help hold myself accountable. I'm hoping this will help. I want to feel healthier, stronger, overall just better about myself. It's definitely not easy finding exercise time with a toddler but I'm going to work on it. I feel like my diet is pretty good, better than most (except for Coke) so that part won't be too bad for me but exercising is not something I enjoy so that's the hard part. So here's to eating better and exercising more--we'll see how it goes!

Weekend Photos!

-It was a seriously busy weekend. As many of you know I went to visit my dad and stepmom this weekend. William had been taking 3-4 steps around our house, but when we got to my dad's house he turned into a walking pro. I mean this kid was going everywhere. Twenty to thirty steps were no big deal at all! It was pretty amazing. Everyone kept telling me when he was ready he would just take off and that's exactly what he did!
-We got to go visit my grandmother. William was the hit of the nursing home.

-He got to pick his own pumpkin and watermelon from the garden. This was really exciting for him.

-He got to play with/in a bunch of farm equipment--which he loved! What little boy doesn't love tractors, combines, and fork lifts!

So What Wednesday!

So What Wednesday

It has been a while since I blogged. I decided to take a hiatus from social media/internet/blogging. I sometimes think that we are all too focused on those things instead of what's going on right in front of us but now I'm back. I'm going to try to have a better balance.

Shannon from Life after I Dew is actually having her little one today so good luck and congratulations to her. She has a guest blogger today so you can still go link up!

Here's what I'm saying so what to this week. So what if:

-I didn't actually miss Facebook/internet during my online vacation. I have checked Facebook like 6 times today though!
-I prayed for nap time all morning. William is teething and very unhappy.
-I let William watch Cars this morning. I don't normally let him watch TV but he's been so fussy all morning and it made him be quiet for a little while.
-I nursed him to sleep for nap time...I know we are trying to cut down to just morning and bedtime nursing but I gave up.
-Yesterday was the same--fussy baby, mama praying for nap time, crash on couch when he finally goes down instead of cleaning.
-I really wish I had a cleaning lady. Only like once/twice a week. I feel like I am behind on cleaning and will never get caught up.
-I run to the bathroom and gobble down my birth control every morning when I wake up. FIRST THING!! I know so many pregnant/trying to be pregnant people right now. I know two families who are expected #6 any minute now. I am not ready for two let alone six. After the past couple days I may never be ready!
-I am looking forward to our 4.5 hour drive Friday. This is how much I'm looking forward to visiting with my family. I haven't seen my baby brother in several months.
-I have been doing horrible with working out. I am going to do better. I only work one day next week and I will work out during nap times...hopefully. I'm going to try to work out during nap time is probably a more accurate statement.
-My husband and I will never see eye to eye on what constitutes family time. Him-sitting in same room while he plays a video game. Me-doing something together.
-I am considering loaning a member of my family money...is this a bad idea?? I think it might be.
-I am considering trying to give up Coke again...it is really hard.
-I haven't had a good night's sleep in over 2 weeks. See above item-this might be a contributing factor. Or maybe I just need to find a doctor and get some Ambien.

Well that's it guys! Have a great rest of the week.

So What! Wednesday

So What WednesdayI haven't been participating the past couple weeks but I'm back this week. Here's what I'm saying So What! to this week,
So What If:
-I haven't read the blogs I follow in like 2 weeks. Don't worry I still love you guys--just been crazy busy.
-I am so over being a single parent! Bill has been gone since last week for work and I am ready for him to return. I don't know how single parents do it. It makes me so grateful that I have a wonderful, supporting, helpful partner the majority of the time!
-I continue to tell people I'm 31 even though I turned 32 in December. I have no idea why I can't remember my actual age. It doesn't bother me that I'm 32 at all. Maybe it's because I had a 5 month old at the time of my birthday and was just so sleep deprived that I forgot it?? I don't know but I need to start claiming 32 since I will be 33 soon!
-I didn't make a menu plan this week since Bill was gone. We have had Publix rotisserie chicken most of the week. Sad I know, but I did make a lot of veggies from our farm share to go with it each night so it was like a totally different meal, right?
-I'm upset that it's raining today (my day off) but it was sunny on the days I worked. The forecast says it will be sunny Thursday and Friday--of course I work those days.
-The baby woke up at 5 minutes until 6 this morning when I could sleep in but always sleeps until 630-7 on the days I have to go to work.
-I'm pretty sure I'm going to be extremely lazy all weekend.
-I haven't worked out in like 10 days--probably not going to happen anytime soon (see above).
-I forgot to feed the fish yesterday. Sorry guys. They will survive. I mean they go like a week in wild without food I think.
-My nieces birthday party is in about one week--no present yet, no idea for a present yet. She's going to be 4. What do you get 4 year old little girls for their birthday?
-I ordered some cute tops from Ann Taylor this week and they arrived this morning. I immediately changed my shirt to one of the new ones. I couldn't wait because it's been a while since I went shopping for myself. Plus, I wear scrubs to work so I'd have to wait until Saturday if I didn't wear it today.

What are you saying so what to today??

William is One!

Last Wednesday, William turned one! It was a very special day for us. It is hard to believe it has been a year since he was born. So many people kept telling me that I know longer had a baby, but I don't believe that at all. He's still a baby to me and probably will be for a long time to come. It will always be an emotional/special day for me. It's the day I became a mother. William changed that status for me. I had not always seen myself as a mother; I wasn't sure I even wanted children but from the day I found out he was coming I knew I wanted him more than anything else. And I still feel that way. I can't imagine life without my sweet little boy.

Here are the stats:

-Height: 31.75 inches tall! My little guy is officially half my height and he is only one year old. That is crazy! Guess he's going to be tall like his daddy.
-Weight: 23+ lbs. We actually thought he was going to weigh more and I'm still not sure it's right. He kept pushing on the sliding part of the baby scale so she finally called it.

-Clothes: all size 18 months, except for one 12 month shirt that still fits somehow!
-Shoes: size 5 but they are too small again. This kid has really big feet!
-Diaper: size 4
-Favorite toys: Balls of all colors and sizes! His little people farm animals, mega blocks (birthday gift from grandma Mary), his new turtle he picked out himself

- What's new this month?? He's talking all the time--mama, dada, nay nay (his cousins name is Nathan), ball, bottle, no, bye bye, dog. He even said yellow once!
-The most exciting thing this month is walking!! He took his first two steps 3 days before his birthday and we were shocked! We were in the kitchen and he let go of the freezer drawer handle on our fridge and took two steps toward us! Almost every day since he's taking at least 3 steps. He even took 7 steps once!

-I look forward to this next year. I'm sure it will be just as amazing as the first and I can't wait for each new thing, William learns. He's such a happy baby and we enjoy each day that we are blessed to have him in our life.
